Meet the Teachers

In 2003, I researched the effect of the mentor program at one school in Virginia. In a qualitative study, I interviewed five career-switchers, people who became teachers after a number of years pursuing other careers. I chose this population because we know so little about them. I was interested in what they had to say about why they stayed in teaching and in that particular school. I call the school and division by the fictitious names of Jackson.
