Catullus: Tuffy the Tugboat meets the Brave Little Toaster

Creative Assignments for Catullus

Often I would be tired of reading many essays detailing the same information, so I gave the students a creative assignment for the poems (this was in addition to the normal quizzes - it's necessary to keep them on task, after all!). The most popular one was for Poem 5 (Latin text); you can see some examples of their translations and artwork here. The marriage hymn was another favorite, and one student did a board game version; unfortunately it was too large to scan for this presentation, but another of the illustrations for this poem is also here.
